The most popular slinger bag is used by camera enthusiasts and photographers to hold their camera equipment on short day trips. Adorama sells one that is fairly popular. I think it's called a slinger because you can sling it up on your shoulder and quickly move on to the next project. Adorama seems to have an entire line dedicated to the name and they don't all look the same.

I bought this bag for bike riding and when I run errands on the bike. It's comfortable, fits tight, and doesn't slide around. Holds a standard water bottle and has a pocket inside the small compartment for an MP3 player with an earbud port, but I use it to hold my wallet. The cellphone pocket fits my Sony Ericsson phone great in a pouch on the strap that is easily accessible. Certain "smart" phones may be a tight fit or not fit at all (not iphone tested to my knowledge) The large compartment holds a fair amount of stuff and isn't too bulky.
